National Science Week is an opportunity for everyone to talk science, see science and do science.

National Science Week is Australia’s annual celebration of science and technology. Running each year in August, it features more than 2,000 events around Australia.

From hands-on explorations of the science, to the mathematics of quilting, to adults-only talks about animal reproduction, there's an event to suit just about everyone! Over three million people participate in science events throughout Australia.

National Science Week aims to:

  • spark broad interest and engagement in the sciences

  • provide an opportunity for all Australians, including those historically underrepresented in the sciences, to participate in science events and activities

  • foster partnerships between the community, research organisations and industry

  • trial new and innovative STEM engagement activities.
